Your body has an amazing ability to heal itself. It may not seem like it when you’re frustrated over wrinkles and fine lines and other imperfections, but, luckily, there is a way to redirect that natural healing power to where you need it. PRP treatments, often called vampire facials, use a blood sample and turn it into platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to be used as a facial treatment. It’s not as scary as it may sound! You can learn more about it in our introductory blog post, or call the professionals at Beach Beauty Health Spa. We have been offering innovative beauty treatments from our Miami Beach spa for more than 10 years to local beach lovers and celebrities alike.

Are you interested in trying a vampire facial? The treatment can have dramatic effects, but only if you follow our aftercare instructions. Your skin will be delicate as it heals and smooths away imperfections, and there are a few do’s and don’ts you should keep in mind to make sure you don’t interrupt or damage that healing process. In part one of this series, we went over what to expect and what to do to ensure gorgeous results. In today’s blog, we’ll be going over what you should avoid. Ready for your transformation? Call Beach Beauty Health Spa today to schedule your appointment for a vampire facial!

What Not to Do

As we mentioned in our previous blog, it will probably take a day or two for things to truly go back to normal. It’s important that you take a few precautions during those days to ensure you heal properly and experience all the great benefits that can come with PRP treatments. The golden rule – we can’t emphasize this enough! – is to treat your skin with love and care.

Apply Makeup after Your Appointment

If you have seen the famous selfie Kim Kardashian took after a vampire facial, then you know that you won’t look your best immediately after your appointment. Resist the urge to cover up your face with foundation, however. Your skin will be especially tender in the hours following your PRP treatment, and applying makeup products over the injection sites can trigger a negative reaction. It may simply be painful or itchy, or the makeup could cause more serious side effects. Wait several hours at least before trying to put on makeup, and use simple, natural products at first, if possible.

Swim or Exercise Strenuously

Think of all the germs, bacteria, and chemicals you are exposed to at the beach, pool, or gym. Now think of how sensitive your skin will be after a microneedling procedure. Sweat, saltwater, or chlorine can sting, and you don’t want to contaminate the injection sites as you heal. Wait several days after your vampire facial before returning to your normal exercise routine.
